I don't think I put this on here anywhere. If I did, sorry for the repeat.
Heat frozen meatballs in equal parts of whole cranberry sauce and tomato sauce for a tasty holiday appetizer.

Melissa, do you make your own meatballs for this, or buy them? This sounds like it would be a great crockpot appetizer. Mmm.

You can do what you prefer; however, in the interest of time and minimizing the mess....I buy frozen.

Brenda, NOW I remember....I couldn't remember if that conversation was here or elsewhere. Initially you had said you used grape jelly and SHRIMP SAUCE.

I love recipes like this. Super easy, and tasty. I'm going to put this on my list for our NYE party.
My FIL puts jelly in his rib sauce and swears by it. He puts it in something else, too and I simpy can not remember what.

I had a teacher that put grape jelly in his hamburg bbq/sloppy joes (whatever you call it).

Anyone had a tried and true brand of store bought meatballs? I can go to MI to get them if they are really good. I haven't found one that is as good as the recipe I have so end up making my own. I use a mix of ground beef and ground pork and there is a little bit of horseradish (plus other ingredients too) that gives it a nice flavour and you would never know that's what it is. I love horseradish, but I know a lot of people that don't. Diney

I think my mother always uses the Sam's Club or Costco brand. I would imagine that very few frozen meatballs would be as good as your home made ones, Diney! For me, and the recipe for the sauce we use, it's more ABOUT the sauce than the actual meatball.
Yours sounds yummy....would you mind sharing the recipe?

Nadine,
I can't remember what I buy off the top of my head...I only know what the packaging looks like. I will check and post later tonight.

Nadine,
You asked about meatball brands. I buy one of two brands. I like them equally....depends what's on sale what I buy.
1. Mama Lucia's Homestyle Meatballs (comes in a brown box, contains probably 24 ***tail size meatballs).
2. Cooked Perfect Homestyle Meatballs (I think the name of the company that makes them is Home Market Foods..it's really tiny and in the upper left corner of the bag). They come in a couple different size bags. Bag is green, white and red...like the flag of Italy. Again, the meatballs are the small, ***tail size meatballs.
Both also come in an Italian style meatball, but I prefer the homestyle. Cooked Perfect also makes a turkey meatball (I've not tried it).
Good luck!

Our grocery store had a special - if you buy a bottle of Heinz chile sauce and a can of Ocean Spray whole cranberry sauce, you got $2 off a bag of frozen meatballs - this must be a very popular recipe. I bought the ingredients and can't wait to try it. I'm making them for New Year's Eve. I also use Mama Lucia - they're really good.

Diney, you asked for a recipe and I found this one on Kraft foods recently. I tried it and it is good and easy. I like good and easy.
What You Need! 2 lb. ground beef 1 pkg. (6 oz.) STOVE TOP Stuffing Mix for Chicken 1-1/4 cups water 2 eggs . Mix and roll into balls. Easy as pie and pretty good too. It makes a lot so you could freeze some for later. That is what I did.

I'm making these for NYE tomorrow, too. Getting my grocery list together right now. I'm going to check for the frozen balls, but if I can't find any that my husband can eat, might try the recipe Nina posted. Woohoo. Been waiting to try these.
