Yes, my kids dip their fries in their frosty's. I don't know where they picked that up. I used to do the peanuts in the pop whenI was little, but I was a bit grossed out by it when I thought about it hard. I used the hot peanuts in coke. Tasted good at the time, but it sounds gross now. Lots of things taste good when you are little, like baby food. Yuck!

OK Brenda, now I know for sure you are pregnant. Ha Ah! But, surely I haven't been pregnant for the last 38 years!!!!! I don't know where I picked up the french fries in the frosty thing either, but I've been doing that for as long as I can remember!

My husband dips his fries in a chocolate shake also, and now my son also does it. I like fries and chocolate milkshakes, but not at the same time!!

Oh! You just don't know what you're missing! The fries HAVE to be salted though! I think it's the mix of sweet/salty and hot/cold that just really makes it DE-LISH!!!

Wow! All those comments from a baked apple recipe! I'll have to try the recipe - never know what to do for an occasional dessert. And it would go great with my husband's ice cream. But about the apples upsetting the stomach - that's odd because apples are recommended for acid reflux. On a trip last year I needed apples (we took extra from our motel's fruit dish for me) after I had spaghetti.....

i've never heard of apples being recommended for acid reflux....that's a new one for me. maybe it just depends on what kind of apples you eat. I like the really tart apples. Tart, crunchy and juicy! Winesaps are my FAVE!!!! Can't ever find them around here though. Fuji's are good. I don't like really sweet apples, or soft, mealy ones. I remember going to an orchard on a field trip when I was in elementary school. we got to pick our own apples. I remember they were winesap and they were the BIGGEST apples I had EVER seen! I couldn't get TWO hands around one. Of course, i was 10....so my hands were a little smaller than they are now!

I remember reading that on the Internet, but they weren't really specific about what type of apple would work. I may have to give this a try - I have acid reflux and I hate taking medicine for it. Too many side effects. The weird thing is that when both my kids were babies, apple juice made them spit up and it had a really acidic smell to it. I stopped giving them juice, or I diluted it with water.

I wonder if the digestion benefit isn't in the peel? Pectin maybe? I can't drink many juices b/c of the acid. I remember mom letting us have apples as snacks when we got home from school b/c she said they would actually make us hungrier later and we'd finish our supper. Is that true? Or was she just pulling our legs?

I don't know how, but I think that actually works! I've never been able to eat any fruit, that it doesn't make me twice as hungry in just about 30 minutes! That's so funny you mentioned that. I've always wondered why fruit made me hungrier!

I like the sweet, crunchy, juicy apples and I have reflux really bad. I have been on Prilosec for about 15 years but still have it pretty often just not as bad as when I didn't take the Prilosec. I always have apples on hand and often eat one in the evening and it does help with the reflux. I think it is the juicy part that helps. Anything you eat or drink unless it is acidic will help to push the food on down even water. That is what I have read. Reflux is when the food comes back up into the esophagus and usually when I have overeaten.

I will give apples a try. I can't take Prilosec - I get stiff, achy muscles and joints and can barely move by nighttime - weird! I just tried Prevacid and so far I am ok with that, but it still makes me a little "irregular", and so does Pepcid. I just try never to eat close to bedtime, especially anything with tomato sauce or fatty foods and use two pillows.

About being hungry after eating fruit. It is 90 % ? water. Just goes right through you, right? Leaves you hungry again right away.

Well.......DUH! I should have figured that one out! Thanks for pointing out the obvious to me, Nina! Sometimes you just feel plain silly when someone explains something you should have been able to figure out for yourself!
