This is really easy.

1 chocolate cake mix (no pudding kind)
1 can cherry pie filling (I use the Wilderness brand)
3 eggs

mix all ingredients together, put mixture in floured & greased cake pan (9 x 11), bake for 30-35 minutes at 350 deg.  Check cake before removing to see if fully baked in center.

For the frosting I just get one from the store, heat in microwave for about 30 seconds & frost cake when warm.

Drool...drool...drool.

Mary, or someone else, said you can mix the flavor of cake and the flavor of pie filling. Lemon/raspberry, spice/apple, yellow/pineapple. Endless possiblities, endless pounds on my hips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mom goes quilting once a week.  The ladies take turns bringing in dessert for the group.  Mom's turn was this week and she took this cake.  It got RAVE reviews!

Mom didn't ice it ... instead, she put a dollop of Cool Whip on each piece.  Yum!!!

My mother just made this today for my sister's 35th birthday.  She made cupcakes.  They said it was delicious, and the kids they watch loved it too!

My 70th birthday party

I'm going to make this cake for my family's Memorial Day get-together. I bought the stuff and I have eaten it before since someone brought it here for a dinner once recently so I think everyone will like it. The problem is we have a lot of diabetics in our family but they will probably eat it anyway. I know I will.

If you want to dress it up a bit you candivide the batter in two.  I bake it in the flan sheets from Pampered Chef.  When it is finished baking/cooling I put the bottom on a large plate, get cool whip, chocolate syrup & chopped nuts in the center of it that is dipped in a little.  Then I put the top layer on & repeat with the chocolate syrup, etc.  I get the decorating whipped cream & put it around the edge of the cake.  It makes it a little "frou-frou" & tastes delicious.

Use white cake mix because that is what I had. Added some nutmeg, ground ginger and cinnamon. Had a can of apples. It was yummy. I mixed up a little brown sugar, flour and butter for some crumbs on top.

Ginny, that sound really yummy, actually.

I made mine into a bundt cake and used a brandy icing.

I want to try a carrot cake mix with pineapple filling. I think that would be very good. I also want to try lemon with raspberry filling. I might be making cakes every week! Yikes. Bad for my hips.

Sounds like a producer who did just that:

I remember hearing the story on the radio and thinking I might want to stay away from the book, as much as I want it.
