I am wondering if it is possible to require someone to be a member before they can read the board? I know it is not set up that way right now, but wondering if it is possible. Having come from COT, I feel rather exposed.

That's a valid question, Ann. Some forums are set up as private and some are set up as members-only. Initially the forum was set up so anyone could read and join. Is it all information on the forum that is a concern, or would it be helpful to have a members-only section for us to post more "sensitive" or private issues?

I would vote for all private. Then we would not have to second guess which things needed to be kept confidential - especially since such a thing might come up in the middle of a thread.

I see Ann, thank you for the feedback on that.

There is a different "feel" to locked and unlocked forums; I don't foresee that we will be switching to an all-locked format in the foreseeable future. However, as the community evolves, it will be something to look at, at least as far as to have a private section for more sensitive concerns.
