My 70th birthday party

« on: August 02, 2010, 09:47:20 AM »

My son made a dessert for Sunday lunch. He took a can of peaches, 1 pint of fresh blueberries, 1 stick of margarine and a box of lemon cake mix and made a delicious dessert. We served it with Cool whip. Sooooo good.
I think he melted the margarine in the bottom of the baking dish (9X13) dumped in the cake mix and then spooned the peaches and blueberries on top. I think he sweetened the blueberries, I'm guessing 1/2 cup sugar. I will ask him this evening and if different, I will post it.

I have questions.  chef

Small or large can of peaches? With or without the liquid? No stirring? I used to make a dump cake years ago, but I can't remember how I did it, except the melting of the margarine in the bottom of a 9x13 sounds familiar.

I would use a large can of peaches with the juice so it won't be dry. With a full box of cake mix, it may tend to be dry so I would use a large one with the juice. No stirring.

Interesting.  When I've made dump cake, the fruit and syrup was always on the bottom.  I should try the reverse and see if I like it better!
