Ok ladies, Superbowl is coming up, do any of you make something you have to have every year or do you just order pizza and wings.  Here are a few of my favourite Superbowl eats, we like spicy, not super spicy though.

Brown Sugar Smokies (like the water chestnuts only with lil smokies)
Ingredients
1 pound bacon
1 (16 ounce) package little smokie sausages
1 cup brown sugar, or to taste
Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cut bacon into thirds and wrap each strip around a little sausage. Place the wrapped sausages on wooden skewers, several to a skewer. Arrange the skewers on a baking sheet and sprinkle them liberally with brown sugar.
Bake until bacon is crisp and the brown sugar melted.

Jalenpeno Popper Dip

Ingredients
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup mayonnaise
1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chilies, drained
2 ounces canned diced jalapeno peppers, drained
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
Stir together cream cheese and mayonnaise in a large bowl until smooth. Stir in green chiles and jalapeno peppers. Pour mixture into a baking dish. Bake at 375 degrees for about 30 minutes.

Buffalo Chicken Dip
Ingredients
1 pound skinless boneless chicken breasts
1 (8 ounce) bottle ranch dressing
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 (12 ounce) bottle hot pepper sauce
1 (16 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add chicken breasts and cook until juices run clear, about 4 minutes per side. Remove to a cutting board to cool completely. Use a fork to shred the meat into strands.
Pour the ranch dressing, cream cheese, and wing sauce into a bowl and mix until combined. Add the shredded chicken and mix well. Spread the mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the Cheddar cheese over top of the chicken mixture.
Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is bubbling, about 10 minutes.

Oh so fattening, but who cares, it's Superbowl!

My 70th birthday party

We love the bacon wrapped sausages too. But here is my superbowl menu. Last year I put this recipe on the other forum. It is really good.

SUPER BOWL BREAD
1 round loaf California sour dough bread
1 stick butter or margarine (melted)
16 oz of cheese of your choice ( I used chedder) sliced thin
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp dijon mustard
1 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp celery salt
Cut bread in about 1 inch slices almost down to the bottom. Leave about 1 inch or 1/2 inch
then cut it the same way in the opposite direction. Put the cheese between the slices of bread and then pour the liquid mixture all over it (melted butter, lemon juice, mustard, garlic pow, onion pow and celery salt mixed to gether).
Wrap in foil and bake at 350 for 20 mins and then uncover and bake another 20 mins. Serve. It is like pull-apart bread.
Yummy! I got this recipe from the Simple and Delicious magazine.
I think I will make the beans and saugage recipe and we will eat it like soup with the bread. Haven't decided on a desert yet. I'm feeling kinda guilty so maybe a fruit tray?

When is the superbowl?

Mary, it's always the first Sunday of February (used to be the last Sunday of January, but they changed awhile back).  Our pastor insists on having our annual meeting before it, I complain every year.  Our church has a party so he figures people will come out, but they don't.  My husband doesn't go because he likes sitting in a home on a couch all cramped in with a bunch of people, he finds the one at the church not fun in the auditorium all spread out.  Also the picture isn't great on the screen at the church, well not as  good as our TV at home any way.  I hate having the annual meeting at 5pm on Superbowl because it's hard to make supper and it's hard to make snacks and you miss all the pregame stuff.  That's my rant for the day.
