Does anyone have a good recipe for cabbage and noodles?  I had some last year and it was so good, but I don't remember what all went into it now and I'd love to make it.

Not me. I never have put cabbage and noodles together. But would be interested in how it is done.
If you are asking for the recipe, it must be good.

That would be a Polish dish called Haluski.  Lots of people around here eat it, although I never have.   Here is a link to a Pittsburgh recipe:

I'm sorry, it just doesn't sound good to me. There's not much that I don't like but I don't think this would be one of my favorites.

It sounds like it needs some ham in it, if you ask me.

Here's what I do.  My mom made this a lot and I just LOVE it!!  We call it Cabbage and Bows, because you use bow noodles.  I'm sure any noodle would work though.  It's so simple it doesn't really need a recipe.

1.  Put noodles on to boil
2.  Slice up a polish sausage or kielbasa (I use a turkey one) and brown in a large skillet (I used a really big, deep chicken fryer)
3.  Remove sausage.  Melt about 1/2 stick of butter or use olive oil if you like
4.  Cut up one large head of cabbage into strips and layer in skillet.  With each layer, add some salt.
5.  Cover and let the cabbage wilt.  Once it wilts enough that there is room again in the skillet, add the meat back in.
6.  Add the noddles.  At this point, I like to let it brown a little bit.
7.  If there is a LOT of water in the skillet, I remove the lid.

I just love this dish.  Sometimes I get it TOO salty, so you'll have to play around with that.  You can always add salt at the end.

I like that recipe better.   I love kielbasa and I imagine it would be awesome with the cooked cabbage.  I hardly ever get to cook cabbage b/c my husband HATES the smell of it.  So, I'll have to cook it on a night when he is working overtime...which hardly ever happens. sad

That's funny....I used to hate the smell of it, too.  But now, I love it!

My mother-in-law makes cabbage and meatballs in the pressure cooker.  That's really good too!

I love cabbage rolls and the cabbage casserole, my friend makes a creamy cabbage soup that she loves.  I would like to try it and the recipe for the cabbage and noodles, but my family, I know, will not eat it. sad

We have a german dish called "pigs in a blanket". It is pretty much cabbage rolls made with rice, pork and a few other things rolled in cabbage leaves. I have also seen it made with cubed potatoes instead of rice.

That sounds good!  My mother used to make stuffed cabbage.  Just like stuffed green peppers, she's use her meatloaf recipe and roll it up in cabbage leaves and bake it, I believe with a marinara sauce or ketchup over top.

Brenda - that sounds like something my mom used to make.  It's a polish dish that our neighbor gave her the recipe for.  I don't know how to begin to spell it, but it's pronounced go wump ki.  They were delicious.  I may have to give them a try.  I had forgotten all about them.

Thank you all!  I made Brenda's recipe for the Lent potluck and it was a big hit - so much that we didn't get any and I made it last night again for my family so we could enjoy some too.

YAY!  I am SO glad you (and everyone else) enjoyed it.  It does make a lot, but I could eat those leftovers for days.......of course, the side effect of cabbage can sometimes make it........ummmmm......unpleasant?   wink   blush

We had stir fry cabbage last night. Sliced up 1/2 an onion and grated some carrot to go in it. Soooo good.
