All a pork steak is, is a long pork chop with mostly dark meat on it (I'm sure there is a more technical way to state this).  This recipe will work with regular pork chops too.  I just used pork steaks b/c that is what I pulled from the freezer.

Good to know...thanks!

Every time I have made this I have used boneLESS meat.  I prefer not having to deal with eating around bones!  That's just my preference though.

I like the boneless chops for this recipe, but I don't like the center cut boneless most other ways b/c they dry out so bad.  With this recipe that isn't an issue.  It's just yummy.

Another thing about pork steaks is that they are fattier and are cut from the blade or shoulder.

Maybe that's what my mother used....the center cut boneless chops.  I use those for other recipes, but not this one.  The darker meat is SO much better!  And the slow cooker just makes it melt in your mouth yummy!

Oh, you should most definitly try it!  And, yes,.....do NOT forget the brown sugar.  It doesn't need a lot, but it does make a nice difference!

I didn't use brown sugar w/the french dressing, but I do with the ketchup.
