Maintaing our church calendar and scheduling use of the verious rooms of the facility without double booking a room is a very cumbersome process.  I have worked with Shepherd's Staff in the past which is not bad, but this current church uses Servant Keeper as our database and SK doesn't offer that module.  I'd love to hear from you if you have found a software that works well (and that fits a medium sized church budget).  Thanks!

We subscribe to www.mychurchevents.com. It's user friendly, tells you if there's a room conflict, links to your website and costs about $65/year. If you want to take a look at how it appears on a website, you can go to my church's website www.stlukesway.org and click on the "CALENDAR" link.

We subscribe to www.mychurchevents.com.

Can you give us more info on how it works? It is all online? Does it get uploaded to your site or are people actually going where it is hosted when they click the link? How does it look when you print it out? Can you have something show only to staff? Does it handle recurring events well? Can events span more than one day? Can it hold info on rooms and groups so you choose from a list instead of typing it in every time? What do you NOT like about it or wish were different? The price sure sounds good.

This is a struggle for me as well. The software we use is not strong in this area at all and I basically have to use a paper calendar (2 of them). 1 master, and a copy I make for the church. It's old-school, which I kind of actually like, but it is also time-consuming, which I really don't like.  :p

I tried to reply to this earlier today and got booted. Here goes attempt #2.

1. It's all online. Our webmaster has a link on our website that links it to the host site.
2. When you print it out you can either print out the calendar as it appears (in standard calendar format) or you can print a list of the day's, week's or month's events.
3. You can add clip art if you like (has it's own clipart gallery). I don't have time.
4. Boxes expand vertically to accommodate all your events...I have a lot!
5. Yes, it handles recurring events; no events cannot span more than one day.
6. Yes, it can hold info on rooms, people, transportation or objects and you can select from a list.
7. There is a "private events" feature that only the people with administrator privileges can see.
8. It "screams" at you when you try and put in conflicting events.
9. You can link your church photo or logo or....to it so it displays on the calendar. We use our logo.
10. You can create "interest groups" (youth, women, garden ministry, ....) and people can look at only stuff that pertains to their interest group.

The recurring events, you have to click on the date (there's a "copy event to more dates") for each time it occurs. It isn't like you can click once and it automatically fills it in indefinitely.

It's very user friendly and there's not much I don't like about it. I believe there's a 30-day free trial on the website. I recommend you try it and play around with it.

We use the google calendar.  It doesn't cost anything, but you can see what is going on for the day and where by clicking on the dates.  We have a bunch of calendars linked so that each "commission" can put in their own events and it color coordinates everything.  I believe it works very well for what we need.  I use the google calendar at home as well and can link my calendar from work to home as well.
